It was a really fun project to work on – the first project where we handled not just the creative part but were invited to stay with HBGS to better understand and connect with their brand. It is astonishing to see how all the moving parts work together and bring results to our clients.

Designwise, we wanted to create the atmosphere of an elite hunting service whose owners care about every aspect of a clients experience. The website gives the air of a luxury family-friendly farm. This mood was achieved through setting up a muted/earthy colour palette, adding subtle golden elements, and designing custom graphics.

About the Website Design

We started building a custom website for Hatari Big Game Safari in June. One of our suggestions was to concentrate our efforts on the WHEN? WHAT? WHERE? HOW? WHY? that all hunters want to know when booking a safari.

• WHEN? We created a comprehensive booking form, to immediately let visitors know if HBGS can accommodate them or not on specific dates. The result is less frustration from visitors and quicker communication to move visitor through the sales funnel.

•WHAT? Clarity of the animals available to hunt was our foremost priority since most hunters have wish list of trophy animals they would like to hunt on their trip. We achieved this by copywriting descriptions and creating custom icons of each animal.

•WHERE? Normally determined by the previous question, hunters know to get the biggest trophy’s they need to hunt those animals in their natural habitat. This meant ranking for Keywords associated with “Free State Hunting” was crucial in terms of visitor search behaviour.

•HOW? We wanted to make sure hunters knew exactly what to expect in terms of accommodations, food, beverage arrangements and other details.

•WHY? We made sure to differentiate HBGS from other hunting safaris by communicating the various options available. e.g. Is it a family trip? Is the trophy size the most important thing? Is it important for you to have exclusivity in camp?

What we did for Hatari Big Game Safaris

We have made lots of space for images and galleries to show hunting photos of clients, and those professionally taken by the Media Muse. Moreover, we implemented a link building campaign as part of our SEO strategy.

When putting together website content, we aimed for an appealing copy. To learn the inner workings of the business we interviewed the owner and sent her a few rounds of clarifying questions afterward. 

At the same time, we offered clear and understandable instructions on how to reserve and book a hunt, described the hunting experience, and did our best to reply to potential prospects’ questions. To highlight the high quality of the hunting services we have added elements that speak upper class: subtle golden elements and a graceful font.

As a result, we created a website that immediately started generating leads.
